Some time has passed since our last newsletter so here is one compressed
with many interesting articles.Â

*Elections*
Finland had elections and managed to increase their results
<http://piratetimes.net/finnish-pirates-increase-vote-over-last-election/>.

Netherlands had a regional election which also mean a slight increase
for them
<http://piratetimes.net/ppnl-increases-after-regional-election-in-north-holland/>.
In Spain the situation was looking good
<http://piratetimes.net/it-is-pirates-time-its-your-time/> for their
local elections which resulted in three elected pirate councillors
<http://piratetimes.net/results-for-pirates-in-the-spanish-local-elections/>.
Another country to have elections
<http://piratetimes.net/british-pirates-in-uk-elections-this-thursday/>
was the UK pirates. Wales started up a Pirate Party
<http://piratetimes.net/pirates-emerge-in-wales-ready-for-coming-election/>
to help them and some live reporting
<http://piratetimes.net/follow-the-fortunes-of-the-pirates-in-the-uk-election/>
took place and resulted in a slight increase in results
<http://piratetimes.net/results-for-pirates-in-the-uk-elections/>.

Following the results of the UK elections their leader, Loz Kaye,
decided to step down. Another long time leader for the Australian
Pirates, Brendan Molloy, also stepped down from his position. Both these
leaders will continue but in new positions
<http://piratetimes.net/leaders-of-ppau-and-ppuk-step-down/>.

*Pirate Visions*
Our series of visions for the future of the Pirate Movement continued.
Andrew Reitemeyer talked about a multifaceted political experiment
<http://piratetimes.net/andrew-reitemeyer-the-pirates-a-multifaceted-political-experiment-pirate-visions/>.
Josef Ohlsson Collentine wanted to emphasize how pirates mean progress
<http://piratetimes.net/josef-ohlsson-collentine-pirates-mean-progress-pirate-visions/>.
Antonios Motakis focused on the different hats that pirates wear
<http://piratetimes.net/antonios-motakis-using-the-right-hat-pirate-visions/>.
Jelle De Graaf introduced a local perspective on the international
vision
<http://piratetimes.net/jelle-de-graaf-a-local-perspective-on-the-international-party-pirate-visions/>.
Matthijs Pontier talked about the power of ideas
<http://piratetimes.net/the-power-of-ideas-to-replace-the-idea-of-power/>.
Andrew McCallum introduced a view on the movement from a new Pirate
<http://piratetimes.net/andrew-mccallum-a-new-view-on-the-pirate-movement-pirate-visions/>.

*Pirate Times*
Following some accusations of bias and external pressure on us for
writing "uncomfortable facts" we felt a need to make a statement about
our independence <http://piratetimes.net/independent/>Â

    We do not blindly republish press releases, we do not write
    “puff pieces”.  We are not a promotional machine.  We report
    on news, and matters of interest to Pirates around the world.  We
    will not shy away from writing critical articles if we feel
    they’re needed, and far from apologising for that fact, we are
    proud to openly proclaim it and wear it as a badge of pride.

Â

    We will continue to report on anything which any of our team feels
    should be reported on, and we openly welcome any contributions –
    even (perhaps especially) if it’s a rebuttal to something we have
    already published.

Our Flattr income, that supports our infrastructure, was worryingly low
in March
<http://piratetimes.net/flattr-appreciation-during-mar-2015-7-41e/> but
rebounded slightly in April
<http://piratetimes.net/flattr-appreciation-during-april-2015-4-41e/>.

We continued our series on how to do effective pirating and win
discussions by special pleading
<http://piratetimes.net/winning-discussions-special-pleading-effective-pirating/>
and through the 'if by whiskey
<http://piratetimes.net/winning-discussions-if-by-whiskey-effective-pirating/>'
argumentation.

*PPI*
If you're still looking for vacation plans PPI has organized a Pirate
Summer in Poland
<http://piratetimes.net/enjoy-a-pirate-summer-vacation-in-poland/>. Some
summer reading also comes in the form of the e-book from the second
Think Twice Conference
<http://piratetimes.net/the-ebook-from-the-second-think-twice-conference/>
with many interesting topics and speakers.
The Icelandic pirates decided to leave their membership
<http://piratetimes.net/icelandic-pirates-ppis-vote-to-leave-ppi-and-birgitta-only-politician-to-increase-in-trust/>Â in
PPI. The Swedish pirates asked their GA
<http://piratetimes.net/swedish-pirate-party-to-vote-on-ppi-membership/>Â whom
then decided to terminate their observer membership
<http://piratetimes.net/ppse-votes-to-leave-pirate-parties-international-ppi/>Â in
PPI.

*The Pirate Unicorn*
Some weekly discussions on mumble have been initiated each Sunday at
21.00 CEST. Some nights there are special guests talking about their
experiences and holding Q&A sessions. The UK pirates participated after
their elections and the Spanish after theirs. This Sunday some Icelandic
pirates will be talking about their recent rise to become the largest
party on Iceland according to polls made. These Pirate Unicorn talks
have all been summarized in podcast episodes: Nr. 1
<http://piratetimes.net/the-order-of-the-pirate-unicorn-podcast-001/>,
nr. 2
<http://piratetimes.net/show-notes-the-order-of-the-pirate-unicorn-podcast-002/>,
nr. 3
<http://piratetimes.net/show-notes-the-order-of-the-pirate-unicorn-podcast-003/>,
nr. 4
<http://piratetimes.net/show-notes-and-podcast-the-order-of-the-pirate-unicorn-podcast-004/>
and nr. 5
<http://piratetimes.net/show-notes-and-podcast-the-order-of-the-pirate-unicorn-podcast-005/>

An interview with a German pirate living in Iceland
<http://piratetimes.net/interview-with-a-german-pirate-living-in-iceland/>
was made to explain their recent success better.

Two pirate conventions
<http://piratetimes.net/two-piratecons-in-two-hemispheres/> were held,
one in Mariánské Lázně (where a pirate mayor is ruling) and the
other in Boston, USA.

*Poking a dragon*
The future of copyright is going to be determined soon
<http://piratetimes.net/fixcopyright-panel-discussions-on-the-future-of-copyright-in-the-european-parliament/>.
The German pirate MEP needs your help to poke dragons
<http://piratetimes.net/how-to-poke-a-dragon-call-to-arms-for-the-fight-for-copyright-reform/>
and make the future more bright.
