Dear Simon,

Thanks for your frank email. Like you, we in PP-UK want to see an effective and
inclusive organisation. To that end, I am supportive of the points you make
which aim in a positive direction.

We in PP-UK revisited the question of our PPI membership fairly recently, in
light of many of the issues you raise (and others). We chose continued
membership, but that was really as a spur to improving the organisation.

I hope that PP-AU's points will be taken in that spirit too. If, however, PP-
AU feels unable to remain as a part of PPI, this would pose fundamental
questions about the viability and usefulness of the entire project. I am sure
we all agree progress is urgently needed.
